In 2000 I was at the Book Fair in Frankfurt. I took part in the SCRIPTORIUM project which showed some surprising analogies between the epoch of hand written and illuminated books not printed at all and the epoch of computer written and printed books (and somehow computer illuminated). I was to chronicle the Fair – to chronicle rather feelings, impressions and thoughts than events. And I did. The chronicle was to be printed gradually. And it was printed. It was to appear in the Internet. And it appeared. However not all parts appeared and were printed – we had not enough time and too many problems. What was printed and what appeared in the Internet was full of mistakes.
Three years later I found in my computer the „Frankfurt” files and the printed version on the shelf. I corrected what we had not corrected then. I added what we had not added then. Maybe now it looks like it should look. Maybe. However with no doubt this book has its beginning (or end) in the middle.
