FRESH RASPBERRIES
They
were delicious.
Oh, so delicious.
Especially in the morning,
for breakfast,
with corn flakes
and curdled milk.
They were.
Because they are no more.
And they will be not.
The bushes ran wild.
No more bushes!
Only thin sticks left.
Dried stalks thin as
threads.
Choked up by lush,
unbridled roses,
always wild.
Beautiful, but not edible.
(Not edible?
Of course edible.
How about their petals
stirred with sugar?
Not necessarily
in doughnuts.
In sandwiches
also delicious.
Or eaten right
from the jar.)
Now we have to wait
for blackberries.
Nobody knows how
long.
